University Library is a part of the University Information Centre, which is a specialized academic institution with all-university operation. The Information Centre was established in 1991 with an objective to support University activities, especially development of education, science and culture by collecting, storing and accessing information of all types. IC consists of Audiovisual Centre, Computer Equipment Centre, University Publishing and University Library. University Library consists of the following sections:
Library Information System is based on a principle of free and egual access to information. Institucionally, it is based on the existence of an integrated University Library, consisting of the Central Library located in the former Theresian Armoury and information centres located on some faculties (Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Physical Culture, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Natural Science). The current library and information system allows effective financing, higher reductions on bulk orders, better definition of real needs, easy summarizing and analysing of individual requirements and it also enables better co-operation in projects management and easier communication with partners outside the University (National Library in Prague, Scientific Library in Olomouc, libraries of other universities and non-state organizations). Within the co-operation of academic and public libraries in Brno and Olomouc, and under support of Mellon Foundation, the MOLIN Syndicate - MOravian Library Information Network has been established. MOLIN includes the following libraries:
